Kaori fujii

Born in Tokyo and residing in New York, Kaori Fujii is an internationally acclaimed flutist, educator, and a philanthropist.

She has released a total of 8 albums, including “Garota de Ipanema”, which was pre-nominated for the Grammy Awards and the Latin Grammy Awards (LARAS) under 8 categories.

Kaori has performed with such renowned artists as Ennio Morricone (Composer / Conductor), Justus Frantz (Conductor), Albrecht Mayer (Oboist), Phillip Moll (Pianist), Stanislav Bunin (Pianist), Vienna Piano Quartet, Sinfonia Varsovia, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and Suk Chamber Music Orchestra, to name only a few.

In addition, she has graced the stage of leading concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall (New York – USA), The John F. Kennedy Center (Washington D.C. – USA), Alte Oper Frankfurt (Frankfurt – Germany), Liederhalle (Stuttgart – Germany), Teresa Carreño Theater (Caracas – Venezuela), Suntory Hall (Tokyo – Japan), and Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall (Tokyo – Japan).

Kaori took the first prize in the 7th Japan Woodwind Competition, in the 14th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition, and in the 67th Music Competition of Japan. She was the youngest winner in the history of these competitions. Kaori was also awarded the second prize in the 44th International Competition Maria Canals de Barcelona in Spain, and in the 10th International Flute Competition Friedrich Kuhlau in Germany.

A graduate of the Tokyo University of the Arts,  and of the soloist class of the University of Music and Performing arts Stuttgart, Kaori has studied extensively with Jean-Claude Gérard, Paul Meisen, Jeannie Baxtresser, Aurèle Nicolet, Wolfgang Schulz, Sir James Galway and Akiko Mikami.

In 2014, Kaori has founded Music Beyond, Inc. – an NGO that empowers communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa by engaging local musicians and youth through education, performance, collaboration, and mentorship. Currently, she frequently visits DR Congo to teach existing classical musicians.

藤井 香織

藤井香織は、安定した技巧と深い音楽性を兼ね備え、クラシックからクロスオーバーまであらゆるジャンルで世界的に高い評価を受けている。これまでに日本、ドイツ、アメリカ、中南米各国にて多くのコンサートを展開、また、これまでに8枚のCDがリリースされ、幅広く多彩な魅力を発揮している。中でも『イパネマの娘』はグラミー賞にプリノミネートされ、世界的な話題となる。

東京藝術大学卒業後、シュトゥットガルト国立音楽大学ソリスト・クラスに留学、最優秀で卒業。

フルートを三上明子、J.ゴールウェイ、W.シュルツ、A.ニコレ、J.バックストレッサー、P.マイゼン、J.C. ジェラール、ソルフェージュを茂木眞理子の各氏に師事。

国内においては「第7回日本木管コンクール」、「第14回日本管打楽器コンクール」、「第67回日本音楽コンクール」のすべてにおいて史上最年少第1位を獲得、海外においても、「第44回マリア・カナルス国際コンクール」(スペイン) で史上最年少第2位入賞、併せて特別賞を受賞。ドイツで開催された「第 10 回クーラウ国際コンクール」デュオ部門にて、ピアニストの姉、藤井裕子とともに日本人初の第2位に入賞した。さらに朝日新聞社賞、E・ナカミチ賞を受賞するなど受賞歴は枚挙にいとまがない。

これまでに新日本フィル、東響、都響、読響等の国内主要オーケストラや、スーク室内オーケストラ、ウィーン弦楽トリオ、フランツ・リスト室内管弦楽団、シンフォニア・ウァルソウィア、スタニスラフ・ブーニン、フィリップ・モル、アルブレヒト・マイヤーをはじめとする国際的アーティストと多数共演、NHK、ZDF(ドイツ第2国営放送) をはじめ多くのテレビ・ラジオ番組への出演、さらには各地の国際音楽祭へのゲスト出演など活発な活動を展開している。

2014年、音楽教育、メンター育成、コンサートや各機関との協同プロジェクトを通して、中央アフリカ コンゴ民主共和国に存在する音楽家や若者に働きかけ、コミュニティー発展を図る米国非営利団体Music Beyond, Inc. を設立し、現在自らコンゴを訪れながら指導にあたっている。ニューヨーク在住。
