Kaori Fujii is an internationally acclaimed flutist, educator, and philanthropist whose career has taken her to major stages across every continent. She has released eight albums, including Garota de Ipanema, which was pre-nominated for both the Grammy Awards and the Latin Grammy Awards in eight categories.
She has collaborated with celebrated artists such as composer and conductor Ennio Morricone, conductor Justus Frantz, oboist Albrecht Mayer, pianists Phillip Moll and Stanislav Bunin, the Vienna Piano Quartet, Sinfonia Varsovia, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and the Suk Chamber Orchestra. Kaori has also appeared at leading concert halls worldwide, including Carnegie Hall in New York, The John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Alte Oper Frankfurt, Liederhalle Stuttgart, Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall.
Recognized early for her exceptional talent, Kaori became the youngest-ever first-prize winner of Japan’s three most prestigious music competitions: the Japan Woodwind Competition, the Japan Wind and Percussion Competition, and the Music Competition of Japan. She also earned top prizes at the International Maria Canals Competition in Barcelona and the Friedrich Kuhlau International Flute Competition in Germany.
A graduate of the Tokyo University of the Arts and the soloist class of the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, Kaori studied extensively with Jean-Claude Gérard, Paul Meisen, Jeannie Baxtresser, Aurèle Nicolet, Wolfgang Schulz, Sir James Galway, and Akiko Mikami.
In 2014, Kaori founded Music Beyond, Inc., a U.S.-based nonprofit NGO dedicated to harnessing the power of music to empower artists, uplift communities, and drive positive change in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Under her leadership, Music Beyond has grown into a trusted force, valued by the artistic community in the DRC and trusted by leading international institutions and organizations, while creating innovative programs that use music as a catalyst for empowerment, confidence, and social transformation.
As an artist and advocate, Kaori continues to bridge the worlds of music and humanitarian leadership with unwavering dedication and grace, demonstrating how music can restore dignity, inspire unity, and spark lasting change.
藤井 香織
藤井香織は、安定した技巧と深い音楽性を兼ね備え、世界各地の主要な舞台で活躍する国際的なフルーティスト、教育者、そして慈善事業家である。これまでに8枚のCDがリリースされ、幅広く多彩な魅力を発揮している。中でも『イパネマの娘』はグラミー賞にプリノミネートされ、世界的な話題となる。
東京藝術大学卒業後、シュトゥットガルト国立音楽大学ソリスト・クラスに留学、最優秀で卒業。
フルートを三上明子、J.ゴールウェイ、W.シュルツ、A.ニコレ、J.バックストレッサー、P.マイゼン、J.C. ジェラール、ソルフェージュを茂木眞理子の各氏に師事。
国内においては「日本木管コンクール」、「日本管打楽器コンクール」、「日本音楽コンクール」のすべてにおいて史上最年少第1位を獲得、海外においても、「マリア・カナルス国際コンクール」(スペイン) で史上最年少第2位入賞、併せて特別賞を受賞。ドイツで開催された「クーラウ国際コンクール」デュオ部門にて、ピアニストの姉、藤井裕子とともに日本人初の第2位に入賞した。さらに朝日新聞社賞、E・ナカミチ賞を受賞するなど受賞歴は枚挙にいとまがない。
これまでに新日本フィル、東響、都響、読響等の国内主要オーケストラや、スーク室内オーケストラ、ウィーン弦楽トリオ、フランツ・リスト室内管弦楽団、シンフォニア・ウァルソウィア、スタニスラフ・ブーニン、フィリップ・モル、アルブレヒト・マイヤーをはじめとする国際的アーティストと多数共演、NHK、ZDF(ドイツ第2国営放送) をはじめ多くのテレビ・ラジオ番組への出演、さらには各地の国際音楽祭へのゲスト出演など活発な活動を展開している。
2014年、アメリカに非営利団体 Music Beyond, Inc. を設立。音楽の力を通じてコンゴ民主共和国のアーティストを支援し、地域社会を力づけ、前向きな社会変革を生み出すことを使命としている。Music Beyond はコンゴの芸術家コミュニティから高く評価されるとともに、国際的な主要機関や団体からも信頼を得る団体として、音楽を「エンパワーメント・自信・社会変革」の触媒とする革新的な活動を展開している。
