When Music Beyond was founded in August 2014, we had only $200 in our bank account with absolutely no connections to big funders nor interaction with other like-minded NGOs/organizations. I didn't have any experience in running an nonprofit nor experience in working in developing countries. All Music Beyond had was our vision and passion.
I would like to think of myself as an eternal optimist with lots of energy. However to be honest, at times, I felt very lonely, overwhelmed, frustrated and tired. But there are 3 things that are keeping me going;
- Absolute belief in our cause: Yes, it is tough. Yes, it is frustrating. But at the same time, I do firmly believe that making a difference to individuals and individuals they teach, will make a positive, lasting impact and create a ripple effect. I believed it from day one, and more I work with the musicians in DR Congo, stronger the belief become. So.. Never give up!
- Other like-minded individuals/Organizations: Through the activities of Music Beyond, I have met so many wonderful people. Interacting with and listening to their stories give me so much energy and inspiration.
- Last but certainly not least, your support!: My family and friends who always believe in me and encouraging me.. I can never do what I do without you!
So for today..... I just would like to say "Thank you"!

Music Beyondが設立された2014年8月当時、私たちの銀行口座には$200のみ、大手資金提供者も、他のNGOや企業との関係も全くありませんでした。ノンプロフィットを運営したこともなければ、途上国での経験もゼロ・・。そんな私に唯一あったのはビジョンと情熱のみでした。
私はかなりのポジティブ思考人間なのですが、そんな私でさえ、時としてこの上ない孤独感とフラストレーション、パニック感と疲れに、心が折れそうになりました。（←今でもなります・・時々ね。笑）そんな中、私がこの活動を続けていくエネルギーになっているのは次にあげる3つ。
- 全身全霊で信じているMusic Beyondのミッション：確かに時としてツライし、フラストレーションもたまります。でも！個々の人間の人生にポジティブな光をさすお手伝いをすることには、持続的な影響があり、その影響は波の効果のように広がっていくのだ、と強く信じてます。これはMusic Beyond設立第1日目から信じていること、でもコンゴの音楽家たちと時間を多く過ごせば過ごすほど、さらに強く確信できるのです。ですから、Never give up!！
- 同じような価値観を持つ人々や団体との交流：Music Beyondの活動を通して多くの素晴らしい人たちに出会っています。彼らの話を聞き、学び、交流を深めることが、私に大きなエネルギーとインスピレーションをもたらしています。
- 一番大事なこと・・家族と友人からの支援！：いつも私を信じて、心から応援してくれている家族と友人。この活動が続けられるのは、そんなみんなのおかげなのです。
